Women's Cross Country Places Third at AMCC Championship
11/2/2013 — BUFFALO, N.Y. - Penn State Altoona women's cross country came in third place in Saturday's Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Championship 6K race at Delaware State Park.
The squad posted its strongest performance of the 2013 season, as the group's score of 92 points was the program's best total since 2007. All five runners recorded personal 6K bests.
Leading the Lady Lions was Khristina Slobodnik (Altoona, PA/Bishop Guilfoyle), who placed seventh out of 84 runners with a time of 24:53. She became the seventh-highest finisher for Penn State Altoona women's cross country in an AMCC Championship race since the 2005 season.
Several places later, three Penn State Altoona runners finished consecutively, as Charlotte Searle (Boiling Springs, PA/Boiling Springs) came in 12th with a time of 25:36, Makayla Pearce (Lewistown, PA/Indian Valley/Mifflin County) placed 13th at 25:36, and Kristen Cummings (Pittsburgh, PA/Brentwood) was 14th, clocking in at 25:46. Cummings' finish was her highest AMCC Championship finish in her four-year career with the Lady Lions.
Natasha Csicsmann (Chantilly, VA/Chantilly) claimed 46th place, recording a time of 30:41.
The team's final event of the 2013 season is the Eastern College Athletic Conference Regional Championship on Saturday, November 9 at Colt State Park in Bristol, Rhode Island.
