Lady Lions Volleyball Eliminated from AMCC Tournament by Hilbert

11/6/2013 — HAMBURG, N.Y. - The Penn State Altoona women's volleyball team lost 3-0 to Hilbert College in a first round Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference match on Wednesday night in the Hafner Recreation Center. The defeat eliminates the Lady Lions from the postseason tournament.

Although Hilbert swept Penn State Altoona, all three sets were competitive. The home team edged the Lady Lions 25-23 in the first set, then won the second set 25-18. Hilbert overcame several deficits to win a back-and-forth third set 33-31.

Mariah McDowell (Morrisdale, PA/West Branch) tied for the match lead in kills with 11 while contributing 12 digs.

Emily Frye (Etters, PA/Red Land) led all players with 19 digs.

Kristi Batzel (Osterburg, PA/Chestnut Ridge) tallied 17 set assists.

Sarah Seibert (Stoystown, PA/North Star) totaled a match-high four service aces.
