Farren Named AMCC Men's Swimmer of the Week
11/11/2013 — PITTSBURGH, Pa. - Penn State Altoona sophomore Brendan Farren (Monroeville, PA/Gateway) was named the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference's Men's Swimmer of the Week on Monday.
The recognition marks the second time in three weeks of the season that a Penn State Altoona men's swimmer has won the weekly conference award.
For the second time this season, Farren won two individual events in a single competition during Saturday's dual meet at Gallaudet University. He also combined with his teammates to win a relay event, helping the Lions defeat Gallaudet 144-60.
Farren took the top place in the 1000 Yard Freestyle, clinching a time of 11:04.07. Later in the meet, he was the top finisher in the 500 Yard Freestyle with a time of 5:23.88.
Farren helped his squad win the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay in 3:29.52 to complete an 11-event sweep of Gallaudet.
Penn State Altoona men's swimming is 2-0-1 in dual meets this season.
