Women's Basketball Defeated 61-41 by Mary Washington
11/15/2013 — FREDERICKSBURG, Va. - Penn State Altoona women's basketball lost 61-41 to the University of Mary Washington on Friday night at the Anderson Center. The contest was part of the Hampton Inn South Tipoff Tournament.
Madison Mossellum (Harrison City, PA/Penn Trafford) led the Lady Lions with 10 points, six rebounds, and one blocked shot.
Devin Stessney (Altoona, PA/Bishop Guilfoyle) added nine points and six rebounds for Penn State Altoona.
Mossellum's three-point play at 17:32 put the Lady Lions up 3-2 in the first half.
But Mary Washington went on to lead by as many as 23 points in the period, as the host team went up 39-14 at 1:54 on Brianne Comden's score.
The Eagles maintained their lead throughout the second half to clinch the win.
The Lady Lions were plagued by 28 turnovers, compared to Mary Washington's 11. The Eagles converted those 28 turnovers into 29 points.
