12/4/2013 — ALTOONA, Pa. - Penn State Altoona women's basketball posted a strong performance against La Roche College, one of the top teams in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference, on Wednesday night, but the Lady Lions were still edged 65-56 in the Adler Gym.

Penn State Altoona clung to a lead early in the game. Devin Stessney's (Altoona, PA/Bishop Guilfoyle) layup at 12:34 of the first half put her team up by three, 14-11.

But a 14-1 run by the Lady Redhawks, which included a trio of layups by Mackenzie O'Donnell, put the visitors ahead 25-15 by 6:22.

Penn State Altoona narrowed its deficit to four by halftime, outscoring La Roche 15-9 during the remainder of the first period. Becker's layup with 40 seconds left made it a 32-30 game before O'Donnell's score with 17 seconds on the clock gave the Lady Redhawks a little more breathing room before intermission.

The Lady Lions continued to keep it close in the second half. Daijanae Greene (Englewood, NJ/Dwight Morrow) made a layup at 17:43 that cut La Roche's lead to 36-34.

LaShauna Brothers' fastbreak score at 10:26 extended La Roche's lead to 46-36, and the Lady Redhawks maintained a modest lead throughout the rest of the game despite Penn State Altoona's efforts at a comeback.
