Men's Swimming Wins, Women's Team Loses at Cabrini
12/6/2013 — RADNOR, Pa. - Penn State Altoona men's swimming defeated Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference opponent Cabrini College 121.5-69.5 on Friday afternoon in the Dixon Center, while the women's squad fell 125-67.
The men's squad collected eight first place finishes in the meet to defeat Cabrini handily. Three of the team's swimmers won two individual events each.
The Lions got off to a good start by winning their first event, the 200 Yard Medley Relay. The squad of Benjamin Porter (West Chester, PA/Unionville), Alex Fisher (Clearfield, PA/Clearfield), Keenan Halpin (Bensalem, PA/George School), and Kyle Huber (Spring Grove, PA/Spring Grove) finished in 1:42.68.
Brendan Farren (Monroeville, PA/Gateway) won two individual events throughout the day. He finished atop the standings in the 1000 Yard Freestyle, clocking in at 10:55.56. In the 500 Yard Freestyle, he placed first with a time of 5:17.72.
Huber also picked up two wins individually. In the 50 Yard Freestyle, he won with a time of 23.17. He later won the 100 Yard Freestyle in 52.30.
Fisher was the third multi-win swimmer for his squad. He championed the 200 Yard IM in 2:03.63, and later came in first place in the 100 Yard Breaststroke with a time of 1:01.37.
Zachary Jones (Holland, PA/Council Rock South) clinched first place in the 100 Yard Butterfly, finishing in 57.05.
The Lady Lions won two events in their dual meet, with both victories coming courtesy of Ashley Nero (Oak Hill, VA/Oakton).
In the 50 Yard Freestyle, Nero placed first with a time of 26.85. She later won the 100 Yard Breaststroke with a time of 1:16.33.
