Greening's Double-Double Not Enough as Lions Fall 87-72 to Hilbert
12/7/2013 — ALTOONA, Pa. - Evan Greening (Stafford, VA/Stafford) led Penn State Altoona men's basketball with 20 points and 15 rebounds on Saturday afternoon, but the Lions lost 87-72 to Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference opponent Hilbert College in the Adler Gym.
Dylan Leazier (Hagerstown, MD/St. Maria Goretti) added 10 points and four assists for Penn State Altoona.
The Lions led midway through the first half. Greening's layup at 8:34 gave his team a 19-15 lead, and he hit a pair of free throws 30 seconds later to increase Penn State Altoona's lead to six.
But Hilbert regrouped and outscored the Lions 25-11 through the rest of the half. Trevor Stark accounted for eight straight points by the Hawks to end the period, helping his squad lead 40-32 at the intermission.
The Hawks continued to grow their lead in the second half, a period in which they shot 56.7% from the field. Back-to-back three pointers by Jalen Smith put the visitors up 70-51 by the 10:55 mark, and they went on to keep the Lions in check in the remainder of the game.
