Lions Fall 72-57 to Penn State Behrend
1/12/2014 — ERIE, Pa. - Penn State Altoona men's basketball lost 72-57 to Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference foe Penn State Behrend on Sunday afternoon in the Junker Center.
Evan Greening (Stafford, VA/Stafford) led the Lions with 14 points and nine rebounds.
Javon Wilson (Washington, D.C./T.C. Williams) added 10 points and four rebounds.
Both teams struggled from the field in the first half, as Behrend shot 27.5% and Penn State Altoona made only 22.2% of its attempts.
While the home team held a lead throughout the first half, the Lions kept the score close. Michael Wigfield's (Beaver Valley, PA/Glendale) three-pointer at 8:54 cut Behrend's lead to 15-14.
But Behrend went on an 11-2 run to expand its lead to 10 points, 26-16, by the 3:33 mark.
Behrend continued to grow its lead in the second half. Keith Wallace's layup at 18:25 made it 35-20, and his jump shot at 7:44 increased his team's advantage to 59-37.
Penn State Altoona was unable to find success under the basket, as Behrend held a 44-16 advantage in points in the paint.
