Lions Defeated 87-74 by Pitt-Greensburg
2/6/2014 — ALTOONA, Pa. - Penn State Altoona men’s basketball took on Pitt-Greensburg Thursday night in the Adler Gym after a weather-related postponement on Wednesday, and the Lions were handed an 87-74 loss.
Dylan Leazier (Hagerstown, MD/St. Maria Goretti) went 4-for-6 on three-point field goal attempts, scoring 19 points for Penn State Altoona.
Evan Greening (Stafford, VA/Stafford) had his 11th double-double of the season, scoring 19 to go along with 10 boards.
Michael Wigfield (Beaver Valley, PA/Glendale) posted his second double-double of the season, scoring 14 points and grabbing 12 rebounds.
The Lions kept nipping at the heels of the Bobcats in the first half. Two free throws by Greening at 2:10 and a three-pointer by Leazier at 1:47 brought the Lions to within three points of Pitt-Greensburg’s lead, 37-34, at the end of the first half.
In the second half, another free throw by Greening at 18:28 tied the game at 39, and the Lions soon pulled ahead 42-39 on a trey by Leazier at 18:24.
However, the Lions’ lead was short-lived, as Pitt-Greensburg made a run to jump back on top. The Bobcats added some insurance to their lead during the final four minutes, icing the win.
