Women's Bowling in Second Place After Day One of AMCC Championships
2/8/2014 — BRADFORD, Pa. - The Penn State Altoona women's bowling team secured second place after the first day of the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Women's Bowling Championships on Saturday at Byllye Lanes.
The Lady Lions competed against fellow AMCC teams Medaille College, Mount Aloysius College, and Pitt-Bradford in a double round robin team format. Pitt-Bradford finished the day in first place with a total pinfall of 4468, and the Lady Lions trailed them with 4403 total pins.
Brea Suchonic (Butler, PA/Butler) led Penn State Altoona in total pinfall with 1048, averaging 174.67 pins per match. She also bowled the high game for her team on the day, scoring a 214 against Pitt-Bradford.
Abbi Noel (Altoona, PA/Altoona) was second in pinfall on the team with 912 for a 152 average. Jasmine Thomas (Waldorf, MD/Thomas Stone) was third with 866 pins, averaging 144.33.
Penn State Altoona bowled against Pitt-Bradford in their first pair of games on Saturday, tallying 1588 pins in those games. Against Mount Aloysius, they totaled 1388 in two games before wrapping up the day with two against Medaille for a total pinfall of 1427.
In terms of wins and losses, the Lady Lions finished 4-2 on the day. They split with Pitt-Bradford and Medaille while sweeping Mount Aloysius.
On Sunday, the second and final day of the AMCC Championships, the teams will compete in the baker format beginning at 9:00 AM. The conference champion will be determined by total pinfall of both days combined.
