Greening is ECAC South Region Player of the Week
2/18/2014 — CENTERVILLE, Mass. - Penn State Altoona freshman forward Evan Greening (Stafford, VA/Stafford) picked up another weekly honor on Tuesday when he was named the Eastern College Athletic Conference's Division III South Region Player of the Week in men's basketball.
Greening was named the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference's Player of the Week on Monday. This is the first ECAC honor awarded to him.
Greening continued his exceptional freshman campaign for the Lions by averaging a double-double last week, scoring 27.5 points per game and getting 16.0 rebounds per game while shooting 64.5% from the floor and 75% from the free throw line. He also set a new Penn State Altoona men's basketball single season record for rebounds, currently sitting atop that list with 248.
On Wednesday at Mount Aloysius College, Greening scored 24 points and grabbed 14 rebounds. He followed that by putting up 31 points and securing a season-high 18 rebounds in a win at D'Youville College on Saturday.
Greening is currently the national leader in offensive rebounds per game, ranking first among all NCAA Division III men's basketball players with 5.3 offensive boards per contest. Nationally, he also currently ranks 10th in double-doubles (14), 11th in total field goals made (182), 18th in total rebounds (248), and 25th in rebounds per game (10.8).
In the AMCC, Greening is currently second in points per game (19.5), rebounds per game (10.8), and field-goal percentage (57.8%).
