Greening Voted AMCC Newcomer of the Year, Earns Second Team All-Conference Honors
3/4/2014 — PITTSBURGH, Pa. - Penn State Altoona freshman forward Evan Greening (Stafford, VA/Stafford) was named the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference's Newcomer of the Year in men's basketball and also took Second Team All-Conference honors when the AMCC released its All-Conference Team on Tuesday.
Greening is the first Penn State Altoona men's basketball player to ever win the conference's Newcomer of the Year award, and he is also the Lions' lone representative on the 2013-2014 All-Conference squad.
Greening's freshman campaign was statistically one of the best seasons of any player in Lions basketball history. He established new school single season records in points per game (19.4), total rebounds (255), rebounds per game (10.6), and field goal percentage (57.6%).
In the AMCC, Greening ranked second in points per game, rebounds per game, and field goal percentage. He finished his season second among all NCAA Division III men's basketball players in offensive rebounds per game, grabbing 5.21 per contest.
Greening played in 24 of 25 games for Penn State Altoona in the 2013-2014 season, making 23 starts and averaging 31.4 minutes per game. During the season, he won two AMCC Player of the Week awards and one Eastern College Athletic Conference Division III South Region Player of the Week recognition.
