Lions Swept in Twinball at Saint Vincent
3/27/2014 — LATROBE, Pa. - Penn State Altoona baseball lost a non-conference doubleheader on Thursday afternoon, dropping games by scores of 12-5 and 4-3 to Saint Vincent College at Bearcat Ballfield.
In game one, Pat McHenry (Christiana, PA/Octorara) was 3-for-4 with a pair of solo home runs. He went yard to lead off the top of the second inning, cutting Saint Vincent's lead to 3-1. His second homer of the day came in the seventh, putting his team's fifth run on the board.
In game two, Logan Madill (Midland, MI/Midland) was 2-for-3 with a home run and a double, driving in three runs.
Jack Cleary (Brooklyn, NY/Xavier) also had a two-hit performance in the game, going 2-for-4 with two runs scored.
Penn State Altoona took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first on Madill's RBI double to left-center.
Trailing 4-1 in the fifth, Madill sent a pitch over the left-center fence with a runner on base to whittle the Bearcats' lead to 4-3.
But the Lions were unable to bring the tying run across the plate in the final two innings.
Penn State Altoona baseball drops to 5-12 and are set to open their Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference schedule against D'Youville College this weekend.
