Lions Tennis Defeats Mount Aloysius 7-2
4/16/2014 — ALTOONA, Pa. - Penn State Altoona men's tennis topped nearby Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference opponent Mount Aloysius College 7-2 at the Summit Tennis and Athletic Club on Wednesday afternoon.
The match concludes the Lions' AMCC schedule this season. Penn State Altoona improves to 3-6 overall and 3-3 in the conference. The squad has already clinched the fourth seed entering the conference tournament, which opens April 26.
Penn State Altoona swept doubles matches to take a commanding 3-0 lead over the Mounties.
The pairs of Adam Hack (York, PA/York Catholic)/Patrick Albright (York, PA/York Catholic), Chris Reighard (Altoona, PA/Altoona)/Jorge Requena (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic/Carol Morgan School), and Joseph Settimio (Altoona, PA/Altoona)/Ben Settimio (McMurray, PA/Peters Township) won their matches by scores of 8-0, 8-1, and 8-5, respectively.
In singles, the Lions took four out of six to seal the match win.
Hack triumphed 6-0, 6-0 in No. 1 singles, and Albright won 6-2, 6-1 in the No. 2 slot. Ben Settimio posted a 6-0, 6-2 win in No. 4 singles, and Josh Myers (York, PA/York Country Day) posted his first collegiate win in the No. 5 flight, defeating his opponent 7-5, 7-5.
Next up for the Lions is a non-conference match at Bethany College this Saturday, April 19 at 1:00 PM. The match is currently the team's last scheduled date of the regular season.
