Swope is ECAC South Region Player of the Week
4/29/2014 — CENTERVILLE, Mass. - Another weekly honor rolled in for Penn State Altoona junior outfielder Jordan Swope (State College, PA/Tussey Mountain) on Tuesday night, as he was named the Eastern College Athletic Conference's Division III South Region Co-Player of the Week in baseball.
Swope shares the recognition with Centenary College outfielder Joe Forcellini.
Swope went on a tear last week, helping the Lions to three wins, including splits with AMCC opponents Pitt-Greensburg and Pitt-Bradford that secured for Penn State Altoona a spot in the postseason.
For the week, Swope batted .550 (11-for-20) with four doubles, one home run, seven runs batted in, and eight runs scored. He also walked three times and stole one base. Swope's on-base percentage for the week was .609, and he slugged .900. He posted multi-hit games in three of his five contests in the week.
The Lions enter the postseason this Saturday, May 3, as they travel to take on Mount Aloysius College in the first round of the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Tournament. The best-of-three series of seven inning games begins at 10:00 AM in Cresson, Pa.
