The College Sports Communicators (CSC) organization, formerly known as the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), announced its list of Academic All-District men’s and women’s tennis student-athletes on Tuesday, May 9. Among the NCAA Division III honorees were Penn State Altoona men’s tennis student-athlete Casey Hess of Annville and women’s tennis student-athlete Stephanie Swain of Yadkin County, NC.
INDIANAPOLIS — On Monday, May 15, the NCAA Division III Softball Committee released its field of 62 teams that will compete in the NCAA Division III Softball Championship Tournament, sending the Penn State Altoona softball team to compete in the Cleveland, Ohio regional bracket.
Penn State Altoona will take on Case Western Reserve University, the top seed and host of the regional bracket, in its first game in the NCAA Division III Tournament this Thursday, May 18, at 4:30 p.m. Joining the fourth-seeded Lions in the regional are second seed University of Mount Union and third seed Hiram College.
Penn State Altoona nabbed the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference’s automatic qualification to compete in the NCAA Division III Tournament by winning the conference’s playoffs this past weekend in Erie.
This week’s NCAA postseason appearance by the Lions is the third in Penn State Altoona softball program history.
