In compliance with the “Timely Notice” provision of the federal Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Police and Campus Crime Statistics Act of 1998 the University Police are giving notice of a disturbing act of violence reported to have occurred in Oak Hall, on the Altoona campus of Penn State University.
REPORTED OFFENSE: Reported Burglary, A burglary was reported to have occurred in a university’s residence hall , known as Oak Hall, at 8:30 am on Tuesday, April 22, 2014. Oak Hall is located on the north side of the campus, on Gwin Road adjacent to Maple Hall and the campus book store. .
SUSPECTS: The suspect, in unknown and there is no description.
The victim, a student reported that sometime between April 13, 2014 and April 21, 2014, someone entered his residence hall room and stole a case of bottled water and a box of granola bars.
It can be assumed that conditions continue to exist that may pose a threat to members and guests of the University community. It is the duty of the institution to warn of possible “dangerous conditions” on or near the campus, and at affiliate organizations off campus; an “affirmative duty” exists to warn persons associated with this University of possible peril at the hands of some third party or parties.
Students are reminded to:
-Lock their residence hall doors at all times.
-Report suspicious behavior to police.
-Limit entry to residence halls to those who live in the building, do not allow anyone to "piggyback" into the building.
