In compliance with the “Timely Notice” provision of the federal Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Police and Campus Crime Statistics Act of 1998 the University Police are giving notice of a disturbing act of violence reported to have occurred in First Floor Oak Hall, on the Altoona campus of Penn State University.

REPORTED OFFENSE: Reported Burglary, was reported to have occurred in the University’s Residence Hall known as Oak Hall at approximately between 7PM and 10PM, Tuesday, April 29, 2014. Oak Hall is located on the campus of Penn State Altoona, along Gwin Road.

SUSPECTS: There are no suspects at this time.

The victim, a Student, reported that sometime between 7PM and 10PM on April 29, 2014, an unknown person or persons entered the residence hall room and stole jewelry and a jewelry box.

It can be assumed that conditions continue to exist that may pose a threat to members and guests of the University community. It is the duty of the institution to warn of possible “dangerous conditions” on or near the campus, and at affiliate organizations off campus; an “affirmative duty” exists to warn persons associated with this University of possible peril at the hands of some third party or parties.

Students are encouraged to keep their door locked at all times when not in their rooms.

Students are encouraged to report crimes immediately upon their discovery.
