In compliance with the “Timely Notice” provision of the federal Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Police and Campus Crime Statistics Act of 1998 the University Police are giving notice of a disturbing act of violence reported to have occurred in Maple Hall, on the Altoona campus of Penn State University.

REPORTED OFFENSE: Reported Burglary, A Burglary and Theft were reported to have occurred in the university’s Residence Hall known as Maple Hall between Thursday, August 21, 2014 at 5:00 PM and Monday, August 25, 2014 at 12:00 PM. Maple Hall is located on the campus of Penn State Altoona adjacent to Gwin Road.

SUSPECTS: There are no suspects at this time.
The victim, a Student, reported that sometime between Thursday, August 21, 2014 at 5:00 PM and Monday, August 25, 2014 at 12:00 PM. an unknown person or persons entered the residence hall room and stole a set of green Beats Headphones with a green cord.

It can be assumed that conditions continue to exist that may pose a threat to members and guests of the University community. It is the duty of the institution to warn of possible “dangerous conditions” on or near the campus, and at affiliate organizations off campus; an “affirmative duty” exists to warn persons associated with this University of possible peril at the hands of some third party or parties.

Students are encouraged to keep their doors locked at all times when not in their rooms.

Students are encouraged to report crimes immediately upon their discovery.
