Web Policy

The Penn State Altoona Web site serves a dual function. It is a means of passing on information to students, faculty, and staff as well as a marketing tool encouraging prospective students and their families to consider choosing Penn State Altoona. The Office of University Relations is responsible for seeing that these purposes are met.

The webmaster oversees the creation and maintenance of all official Penn State Altoona web pages, both academic and non-academic. If an office, division, or program should either need to have a web page created or need a redesign of its page, the webmaster will work with a responsible representative in order to create the page. The webmaster will then either create the entire page in consultation with the representative or will review an already created page to ensure that it meets with acceptable design standards, includes required elements for a web page, and is in compliance with all relevant University policies.

It is the responsibility of each office, division, or program to ensure that the information found on their official web page is up-to-date and correct. The webmaster will update material when requested, but will not monitor its accuracy or currency.

All official Penn State Altoona web pages will reside on the web-dedicated server housed and maintained in the Hawthorn building. Faculty and staff personal homepages will not be housed on the Penn State Altoona web server and are not the responsibility of the webmaster or the Office of University Relations.

If new information is to be added to a page, the information should be given to the webmaster in an electronic format via email or on a cd or floppy disk. If a pre-existing page has grammatical or spelling errors, a printed copy of the page should be submitted to the webmaster with the appropriate changes marked legibly in ink.

All official Penn State Altoona web pages must adhere to the following rules:

All web pages shall refer to our College as "Penn State Altoona".
