Penn State Altoona hosts Ina Garten for Speaker Series

ALTOONA – Ina Garten, the celebrated specialty food store maven and bestselling cookbook author, will be at the Blair County Convention Center November 6, 2013, at 7:30 p.m., at part of Penn State Altoona’s Speaker Series. Title sponsors for the event are Donald and Nancy Devorris.

Garten’s first book, The Barefoot Contessa Cookbook, was published in 1999, and was one of the best-selling cookbooks of the year. She has since gone on to write several successful cookbooks, including Barefoot Contessa Parties!, Barefoot Contessa Family Style, and Barefoot Contessa, How Easy is That? Her Emmy-winning cooking show, Barefoot Contessa, is one of the highest rated shows on Food Network.

Tickets to the event are $50. They may be purchased online at and through the Penn State Altoona Development and Alumni Relations Office at 814-949-5091 or at 1419 Twelfth Avenue in downtown Altoona. For information on corporate sponsorships, please contact Louisa Lobre-Riley at 814-949-5189.

Proceeds from the Speaker Series events benefit the Penn State Altoona Future Fund, which provides funds for programs that enrich the academic and cultural life on campus and in the community. This fund also enables the administration to offer emergency scholarship assistance to students experiencing a financial crisis. Sponsorships from an array of individuals, businesses and corporations enable Penn State Altoona to direct all proceeds to the Future Fund.
